Sometimes I write stories, on the spot, in #THP. This is one of them...
-----------------------------------------------------------------
<Myschii> Anyway, let us begin.
<Millenia> Hi.
<Myschii> For now I'll title it "The King of Fools".
<Myschii> We'll see where I can go from there.
<Myschii> ?Why would I lie to you? Of all people, who could you not trust more?"
<Myschii> "And on my own birthday of all days? Tsk tsk tsk. Do you need more Faith?"
<Myschii> "More Time?"
<Myschii> ?Does your trust really fly away like the Cherry Blossoms on the wind?"
<Myschii> "Would you listen to me more if we had a better Signal between us?"
<Myschii> ?Or is what we have between us something Unidentified and Fantastic in its scope?"
<Myschii> Meaningless banter from nobody cascades by your ears. A whisper of a whisper. Yet so very distinct.
<Myschii> You might have even imagined it.
<Myschii> But the words themselves were so soft that maybe they were never directed you at all.
<Myschii> at you*
<Myschii> You stand in the alleyway between Big Bob's pawn shop and the Black Bird Dinner.
<Myschii> The fragrant smell of delicious pie wafts lazily from the Black Bird's back door.
<Jerl> I'm coding a PHP visual novel engine.
<Myschii> You flip your switchblade in your hand lazily, impatient with another boring sunny day.
<Myschii> Today will be different though, you have a gut feeling about that.
<Myschii> The Rising Phoenix stands further in the alley. The living legend of the district puffs away at a cigar, short gray hair stained black with smoke in some places
<Cruentus> <%Jerl> I'm coding a PHP visual novel engine.
<Cruentus> Wait what
<Cruentus> PHP?
<Jerl> PHP.
<Cruentus> Why would you do that
<Jerl> PHP: Hyptertext Preprocessor.
<Jerl> So I can learn PHP.
<Cruentus> But... coding an engine in it
<Jerl> Yes.
<Jerl> Coding an engine in it.
<Kapow> okay, new thread zips uploaded for /th/ stories
<Bastille> I'm with Crue... Why?
<Kapow> will do /others/ stories tomorrow
<Jerl> To learn PHP
<Myschii> She stands with her back to you and on her back tattoo of a bright red, yellow, and gold bird of prey, its wings stretched over her shoulders and its feathers falling down her arms and torso
<Jerl> Because I barely know PHP.
<Kapow>
http://z4.invisionfree.com/touhouvn/index.php?showtopic=81 <Cruentus> Normally people learn a language by doing something the language is actually good for. And PHP is good for a lot of things. Single-player games isn't generally one of those things.
<Myschii> The ink seems to be everywhere her skin is visible.
<Cruentus> I learned most of my PHP from coding a forum in it.
<Jerl> In the beginning, it's going to be a retardedly simple system.
<Bastille> Being able to use PHP to manipulate databases is one of the main bread winners... I don't see building an engine with it teaching you the necessary skills one needs to become good with PHP
<Bastille> A forum on the other hand, like Crue said, is a good place to start
<Myschii> Today she is wearing what she always wears, a dark gray tank top and baggy brown trousers that seemed to have more fabric in the patches covering them than was used to make the original garment.
<Jerl> I'm not going to be using databases.
<Jerl> There are no databases on the server this will be going on.
<Bastille> Sessions, cookies, database entries, etc. All there
<Kapow> why the hell not
<Myschii> Her hands are wrapped in case of a fight.
<Jerl> Because there isn't? I don't fucking know, I haven't asked the webmaster.
<Cruentus> SQL is about half the reason to use PHP.
<Myschii> When the mafia first came to this part of town, no one took them seriously.
<Kapow> what are you going to dynamically generate content from if you don't have a database
<Myschii> Then ?accidents? started happening, and the street gangs decided the mafia wasn't welcome anymore.
<Jerl> flat files.
<Jerl> Mainly .txt ones.
<Myschii> The war wasn't long, but there were plenty of casualties.
<Kapow> random quote display?
<Jerl> No.
<Jerl> I was originally going to use databases.
<Jerl> But like I said, the server has none.
<Jerl> So i really can't do that.
<Myschii> Phoenix took a bullet for Lucky. That was before Phoenix was a legend. Before Phoenix was even a part of the gang. She just knocked Lucky out of the way and takes a bullet for the guy.
<Ataisai> <Jerl> PHP: Hyptertext Preprocessor.
<Jerl> That's what PHP stands for.
<Ataisai> FUCK YEAH RECURSIVE ACRONYMS
<Myschii> Afterwards she pummels the mafia brat that pulled the gun like it was nothing to beat up a couple hundred pound brute while leaking blood all over the ground.
<Myschii> You wouldn't believe it yourself, but you were there. Saw her light up a cigar right after too.
<Cruentus> PHP was originally Personal Home Page, but yeah.
<Myschii> She told you life was too short to spend sulking about her own problems.
<Myschii> Started laughing.
<Myschii> Probably the only time you've heard her laugh in the couple years you've known her.
<Myschii> She said she figured she'd help your gang reclaim your turf.
<Myschii> And now she's a legend.

<Myschii> The mafia backed down after she got to a couple of their family members.
<Giddy> Mystia in the mafia
<Myschii> But that was ages ago.

<Myschii> Now everything is peaceful.
<Myschii> And it's been months since the last time you even talked about the shooting.
<Myschii> shootings*
<Kapow>
http://www.touhouproject.com/eientei/res/15012.html I like this already
<Giddy> Me too~
<Myschii> And that was at Lucky's funeral...
<Myschii> Poor guy died eating a pretzel.
=-= Left4Doctor is now known as DrDoujin
<Myschii> We always figured he would be the lucky guy to outlive us all.
<Millenia> Awww. Poor male Twei!
<Millenia> *Twei
<Millenia> *Tewi
<Myschii> But I guess that was just how things went...
<Millenia> It is an interesting thread, Kapow.
<Myschii> Phoenix turns around and drops what's left of the cigar in the alley
* Millenia goes vote
<Kapow> oh hell
<Myschii> Her eyes look haunted... plagued with troubles.
<Giddy> Tewi~
<Myschii> for this town returned a year ago now, but Phoenix always looked like a war was going on.
<Myschii> gah...
<Myschii> Peace for this town*
<Myschii> And as the sun reaches a noon high, you wonder what she called you out to this alleyway for.
<Myschii> But before you can even bother asking her why, she starts walking.
<Myschii> You follow.
<Myschii> You don't know where Phoenix is going, but she asked you for a favor.
<Myschii> So you'll follow.

<Myschii> it's the least you could do. Without question, you owe her one. So you don't speak up despite your curiousity.
<Myschii> You keep your mouth shut as you take a cab out of the district.

<Myschii> You don't peep when you board the train.
<Myschii> And you cram your fist in your mouth when you hand over your passengers ticket for the boat.

<Jerl> The PHP visual novel system seems to be working somewhat
<Myschii> The sleeping outside, the odd jobs, the leaving the gang, you wonder if you'll be on permanent cleaning duty when you get back or if the guys will understand, but Phoenix just keeps on going.
