I hunger. Radishes taste nice. Look, I have radishes in my arms. How nice. I wonder who put them there. Master wanted radishes…. Maybe she wants these radishes! I forgot where I am. Master says I need to try and think more. I’m thinking hard right now. I can’t remember where I am for the life of me. There’s a weird lady standing outside that wall over there. Maybe I could talk to her. Oh, I don’t know. I’m thinking but I can’t decide…
[] You could talk to the lady…
[] …or you could ignore her and look towards the lake.

[x] Go on, dear, go talk to the lady.

Huh. I want to go home, maybe the lady by the wall knows how to help me get home. Ouch, climbing is hard! All my bones hurt, I’m so tired all the time. Master can fix me, though, she always does.

I’m hungry.

Snoozing, sleeping, snoring. “S” words for nap! Oooh, her dress looks really pretty. It’s like master’s dresses sometimes, the fancy ones with gold and pretty rocks. I want to touch, but the radishes might get in the way… There’s a whole lot for me to carry, maybe I could have one. Wait, if master wants radishes, I mustn’t eat them. I cough. Dress lady is still sleeping! I cough louder. Waaah, she fell down! She says, “Woah, you scared me a little there, missy. How can I help?”

“Umm, why are you standing outside a wall? Where am I? Why is it so warm? What rhymes with ‘suffering’? I’m hungry?” Oh dear, dress lady doesn’t what to say! Wait, she stopped for a second, and now she’s calm? How did she do that? Can I do that?

“Well, I don’t really know a lot about most things, but I know a lot about a small number of things. Oh, my name’s Meiling, by the way.” She almost forgot to say her name, how rude! I’ll let it slide. She’s thinking in her head. “If you want, I could invite you inside for dinner. It’s fairly late in the afternoon, but I’m sure the Lady wouldn’t turn away a guest.”
A guest? Me? The Lady???
[] Ask politely to join dinner, like I showed you to.

[] Ask some more questions, just for me.
[] Turn away, come straight back to me.

[x] My dear, why don’t you ask the lady kindly to join?

I am very hungry.

Oooh but Master said that I should be really polite if I want something to happen! Maybe If I ask really nicely, Dress Lady will let me in.

“It’s getting really late, Miss Dress, please would you, would you kindly let me in for dinner?”
Dress Lady thinks a bit. I can see her thinking now, her finger strokes her chin. I don’t think she wants to be called Dress Lady either, but her face looks funny. When she starts talking it is quite slow, but she’s thinking super hard.

“My name isn’t Dress Lady, it’s Meiling… Alright, since you asked really nicely, I’ll let you in. The Lady is probably looking for something to amuse her anyway, it’s been a while since there’s been excitement.”

YAY! I’m an est-estee-esteemed guest today! Master will be pleased! Speaking of Master…

“Miss Mayling, where do I put my radishes? Master wanted radishes, and she’ll be very not happy if I don’t get them to her.” Master wanted radishes for a reason, but my head can’t remember.

“It’s Meiling, not Mayling, and you can take them to the kitchen when I let you in.” Miss Ling stands up from leaning on the wall, and goes to the big metal gate. Gates are cool, I like gates. Master has a gate. With a twist on the lock and a heave and a pull, Meyling pulls back the gate. It looks real heavy, Meiling must be really strong to pull it! I want to be like her, strong.

The gate makes a big croak, and stops creaking. Meiling is huffing a bit, but she’s smiling. She looks at me, very warmly, and says, “Come on in, miss, uhh.” Oh dear, she remembers she’d forgotten before.

I remem-recall what Master said before about being polite, so I bow reeaally deeply, and I almost drop the radishes! “My name is Yoshika!” Meiling is happy I said my name, and if she’s happy, so am I. I like making people happy.

Wait a second. This isn’t a wall. This is a building! Past the first wall, in through the gate, it’s a massive brick house. No, a mansion, that’s the word! All that pretty red, lining up the walls, with those tall and shiny windows, and the big door at the front. That’s a mansion even if I’ve never seen one. There is nothing else that can be so grand, and not be a mansion.

Meiling stopped and is looking at me. Wait, I stopped too. “I’m sorry, but my legs forgot to move.” Meiling is leading me to the house and I forgot to go with her! I’m so clumsy, I run a bit to catch up. The radishes are still safe. She looks at me happily and smiles bigly. “You are absolutely a door ab ull.” I don’t know what that last word was, but she looks happy. Happy people don’t insult other people. Master said so.

The bigger wood door doesn’t need Meiling to be opened. It’s even bi-larger than the gate, but loads of small fairies in funny costumes open the door for us. Meiling steps in and waves her hand towards the inside. I guess she wants me to follow.

WOW! Inside, it’s even granderer than last time. There’s a chandelier, and two smaller doors to the side, and the floor is shiny stone, and there’s a door straight away, and, and there’s a stair case on each side of the big opening, and then there’s more doors…

“How does nobody ever get lost?” I must have done something wrong, because Meiling starts laughing! Master only laughs when something bad has happened. “Stop laughing at me! Why was what I said wrong?”

Meiling stops laughing pretty soon, and is looking upset. “I wasn’t laughing at you, you were just so honest! It’s such a true statement, ‘Why does nobody ever get lost?’ I don’t know, but I can bet you loads of people get lost, all the time!”

My head hurts. “Did I do anything bad then?”

Meiling is nice, she says, “No, of course you didn’t. You just caught me off guard.”
Another voice starts talking with us. “Oh, is that so Meiling? Does that mean I never catch you off guard? Even when you’re sleeping?” This lady is smaller, but she has a funny costume as well. Her voice is higher in pitch, but her words come out of her mouth not-cut-off.

Meiling is pretty surprised now as well. “AH, S-Sakuya! Good Evening, Madam! I, uhh, took the, urm, liberty, that’s the word, to invite a lovely guest to join us tonight. Or for breakfast.” Meiling is red now, it suits her green dress.

Miss Small tuts, pulls her to one side, and gives her a bash on the head. Then she starts talking to me, after shooing away Meiling

“Good evening, Miss Yoshika. Welcome to the Scarlet Devil Mansion. How may I assist?”

[] The kitchen is important, my components will need to be kept somewhere dry and clean.
[] It seems the sun is setting soon, perhaps asking to be seated for dinner right now is acceptable?

[X] Talk to the poor girl, her boss is probably working her to the bone. Assist her first.

“How was your day?”

So far, Miss Suckya been perfect in her behaviour, but now she’s dazed and lost, almost as if she didn’t ask herself that question either. Sukuya is so confused, she loses her train of thought. When I look closely, she looks spotless, no dirty patches from cleaning all day or any stains. Her costume looks so pretty, but it looks stiff as a board. I bet if she used it as a knife it cut through metal.

“I don’t think I am at liberty to say whether or not I have had a good day or not. Does it matter whether the maid has had a good day, either? I am here to serve, and serve I shall.” Miss Sakya is very prim and proper, but she doesn’t want to talk much.

I need to convince her to be more destressed! “Miss Sakya, you look like you’ve had a pretty bad day, and, I was just wondering, if I could do anything to help, because, you look so tired…” I put on my biggest, cutest pout ever! Nobody has ever resisted the effects.

Sakya isn’t amused! She glares hard at me, but after I pull even harder, she finally relents and lets out a tiny sigh and tuts. “Do you want to help me that much, so much that you will put your life in danger?”

Life is a weird word. Master says I’m not alive, but I do everything that other alive people do. So if I’m not alive, whats the difference?

Giggling, I respond, “That’s ok, I’ll help you any day!”

I did it! Sakuya is stifling a giggle herself, and she seems to brighten up a little. “Here’s what I’ll do. Since The Lady is very specific about the maids, I need you to go down and cheer up someone. At dinner, I’ll sit next to you, and we can talk then, as well. How does that sound?”

Yeah! Awesome! I get the chance to cheer someone up, and talk to Miss Sakuya?
“…But what do I do about the radishes?” I can’t just bring radishes with me if I need to cheer someone up! Maybe they really like radishes? That could work. But they could also be allergic to radishes! That would be really really bad. Plus, Master wants them, and I can’t get them lost. “Can you put them somewhere safe for me? Please?”

Sakuya smiles broadly, this time. “Aha, now you are speaking my language, carrying out mundane tasks to the best of my ability is what my job is!” With a prideful smirk (I like that word), Sakuya grabs all of the radishes expertly. “The person you are looking for is down the stairs straight ahead, that’s the one going down, in between the other two. Follow the signs that say ‘Flan’s Room’ and you will find it.”

Before I can even let the words leave my lips, Sakuya is gone. I don’t even know where she’s has taken them! Meiling is gone too, and so are all the fairies.

I’m alone again.

The only thing for it is to go down the stairs, into the gloom.

I don’t really like counting the steps of the stairs whilest I sneak down them to the bottom of the floor. The walls are a bit slimy, so I don’t touch them, but there’s no hand rail in case I fall. The walls are a nice painted colour, and when my eyes got used to it, the lights weren’t dark at all. I like the design, they remind me of something I read in a book. The carpet is a deep shade of red, and it is really cosy. The stairs are narrow compared to the big ones upstairs, but there’s still plenty of space.

When I reach the bottom, both ways look the same as the stairs, with the carpet and the slimy panelling. The left is roped off, with a tiny sign saying “Flan’s Room,” pointing to the right. I like it here, actually. It’s really cosy, and warm.

I hope the food is good. I am really hungry.

There’s quite a lot of corridors that are roped off, but the sign points to the correct room. I hope. The door is a bit scratched, but someone spent a lot of time painting it, in a much lighter shade of red, almost pink. It reads, “Flandre’s Room,” in big, loopy handwriting, that’s a bit shaky but still is readable.

Someone is crying inside.

[] Creep inside and surprise them with a hug. I know, surprise hugs really do help sometimes.
[] Politely knock and ask to come in. Manners come first, in all assets of life.
[] Talk from this side of the door. Perhaps they just want some space for a while.
[] Perhaps you want to make your own choice?
Sorry for short update and delay, was thinking about how to best pan out

I intended the last option to be a write in choice, so you could say what you want to do. It would be appreciable if you could suggest a course of action alongside that choice.

Let's hope she doesn't turn into confetti and will have to be sewn back together

[X] Sing a song about radishes before entering the room.

Singing usually brightens up the mood.
