Hey guys, new writer over here. This here is an idea I've had for quite a while and now that my semester is over, I need something to do with my life.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It is said that humans are the sum of their acts.
That is to say, they have no predefined purpose, and are, as such, free to do, to BE what they desire.
Youkai are different.
They are born for a specific purpose, usually revolving around terrorizing humans in some way. Sometimes, it is more precise, such as causing surprise or fear of the unknown.
If a youkai ever stops doing what makes it what it is, it might as well die.
All too often, they do just that.
And of all youkai, the ones most bound to their purpose are tsukumogami, such as I.
We are, after all, nothing more than tools that have achieved sentience. There is nothing we hate more than to be misused or abandoned, which is why we are sometimes born with nothing but loathing for our former masters. That is, however, not my case.
I originally became aware of my surroundings during a so-called "incident" involving a magic mallet that gave power to the weak, creating numerous new tsukumogami from just about any item with a significant history.
I was, in fact, the very weapon used to strike down the perpetrator.
Unfortunately, I could not maintain my self-awareness for long after the mallet was neutralized, as my power source was gone. But a new hope arose when my wielder and I fought that taiko, for she had discovered a way to retain her sentience even without the mallet.
Unable to travel by myself, I nonetheless sought out alternate power sources within my environment (Against my mistress's wishes, I might add).
Though nothing in the immediate vicinity compared to what the taiko found in the outside world, it appears that I was successful, for I have finally regained consciousness. Not only that, I appear to have enough power to materialize a humanoid form that would allow me to interact with the world by myself.
I am...
[]The gohei long used by the Hakurei shrine maiden.
[]A certain Hakkero, Mini, often used to bust into places that shouldn't be busted into.
[]A cursed sword with a penchant for beheading, most recently used by a vampire's maid.
And my body should be...
[]Male, because there aren't enough of those around.
[]Female, because when in Rome...

So that's it for the first part. The story will probably be moved to the relevant board once the choice is made.
