>>134118 OP here. I understand your concern. But this idea's been floating around my head for a while now.
If it ends up being a piece of shit, then meh, I'll give it up and either come up with something more original, or just continue reading other people's CYOA's. More likely the latter.
>>134132 You don't need to make the character like him. Just take the name and let Anon decide how the character is going to act.
If else it just feels like a crossover,
just try to create something of your own.
As an aside, after voting and all that shit is done, you should probably delete this thread and start it over in /others/. That's generally where crossover stories go. And I am hoping to god that we avoid the massive amount of retards who solely lurk /th/
>>134133 I realized how bad it looked.
>>134134 I saw it was done on here before, it didn't look to bad. But to be fair, the MC was suffering from amneisa, so he was basically a blank slate. I'll go along with your idea. It'll make things go much smoother.
>>134137 >I realized how bad it looked.
You misunderstand. I am saying the story will be bad because Rance is the protagonist. Not only do I hold little hope that you would be able to write him decently, but because he is Rance, the full-retard brigade would leap upon this story and make it terrible.
To put it simply, with Rance as a protagonist, I envision a multitude of people on par with Random Anon reading and voting. It's not a heartening thought.
>>134139 No, no, that wouldn't be fair to them. In all honesty, just write people who you are comfortable writing, and think you can do justice. If you can write Rance as the horrific manchild that he is, than go ahead, and don't let my whining hold you back.
I hope that everyone realizes that Issac is probably gonna start building the tools to build the tools (to build the tools to etc.) approximatively 1 to 2 days after arrival. He is an engineering genius (IIRC) and has a headful of brilliant ideas to kill the inhuman. That said, Issac isn't all that broken for Gensokyo, considering his limitations as a human being.
Now, something like Alex Mercer/ZEUS would be an entirely different problem. A sentient supervirus with the mind of a genius geneticist/microbiologist (and several others hundreds/thousands of minds, from doctors to Marines and Blackwatch), super strength and agility, gliding capabilities, capable of genetic recoding and re-differentiation on the fly and imitating a consumed victim perfectly. Even in Gensokyo, he's a security nightmare and, if he so wishes, a walking generator of plagues that would have Eirin stumped. Of course, the REDLIGHT virus (DX-1118 A and C) is basically the GameShark of DNA and BLACKLIGHT (untyped DX-1118 variant) is even worst, mostly because it adapts at a speed which is frankly ridiculous, observe the growing immunity to BLOODTOX appearing in days after initial exposure, and it basically created a Shoggoth Lord out of a single human body.
>>134183 Actually, from what I recall from backstory Isaac's career as a low level engineer was stagnating at the time of DS1.
Though he is able to use the high level suits which are restricted to personnel with the required rank. Either the system just doesn't care at that point, or he wasn't issued one because they weren't expecting problems.
And the reason I same-fagged is because there's no vote for Youkai Mountain. I wanted to impress the Kappa with fancy armor and gadgets.
>>134202 Yeah, I have a habit of misspelling his name. I'll be aware of it in the future.
Anyways, sorry to the guys who wanted York, because it looks like Isaac is the MC.
But first, before we begin, advantages and disadvantages.
- has access to some of his arsenal at the beginning
- physically strong
- is able to jury-rig items to fulfill his needs
- prone to hallucinations that may lead to the harming of another person or himself
- his habit of swearing may lower the disposition of some people
- [ ] specify which R.I.G. he'll use
- Plasma Cutter (default)
- [ ] name three other weapons
- kinesis module
- stasis module
- x2 small med-kit(s)
- x1 medium med-kit(s)
- x3 stasis pack(s)
>>134204 Not necessarily. Many of the neckbeards who solely lurk /th/ don't pay attention to new threads until they get some popularity. It's a moot point anyways, since /others/ is really where this story belongs in the first place.
>>134218 Yeah. I'll start a new thread in /others/ to begin the story. Just wait a bit and I'll have it ready, alright? Or before that, could you give me some tips so I don't end up fucking up the story?
Just start your story or rethink it, this helps no one.
Round these parts people don't take too kindly to authors voting in their own stories or talking to themselves in their threads by dropping their names. As an author you have absolute control over direction anyways, so why bother deceiving others? I very much doubt this story will amount to much but I hope to be proven wrong.
