Last night I had that dream again. Our world was black as night. Plagued by visions of a future world, again I could not rest. Those damnded people and their wicked ways.
I told of these dreams to our sages, appealed to the Arch. Warning of the darkness to engulf us. The twin Watatsukis laughed and took aback,
"Mr. L, won't you please take some meds?"
Today I had that dream again. Our world was black as night. I flew amongst the stars on the wings of an Angel.
"Mr. L, do you feel okay?"
I look up, to a place beyond our time. Their sunlight doesn't warm. Their colors don't run.
?Didn't you want to flee??
I know the truth is out there.
?Didn't you want to see??
I know the truth is in here.
"Why should I believe you?"
?Didn't you want to flee??
Now I have that dream again. They live beneath the waves, in a whirl of grace and majesty. Craft and Theory.
Kappa.
Now I have that dream again. They live amongst the clouds, winds calling to their mountain home. Tradition and Honor.
Tengu.
Now I have that dream again. They live in a forest of magic, their planet calling to them. Freedom and Anarchy.
Youkai.
?Mr. L, can I erase your mind??
Here, the distant shadows loom. Cold machines rise from the planet. Here, in a world once proud and free.
?Would you free your thoughts, let all our sins abide??
I crave to have that dream again. She lives inside my head, feeling everything I can feel.
?Mr. L, could you please be still??
She speaks to me in dreams. She can see all I can see. She has always been my guide.
?Mr. L, hush now. Please think again of us.?
?I know the truth is out there.
Why should we believe you??
"Didn't you want to see?"
"I know the truth is here."
?Why should we deceive you??
"Didn't you want to feel?"
?We are all here.?
"There is no one there."
?You don't have to be afraid.?
Today I had that dream again. Our world was black as night. Plagued by visions of the world, again I could not rest. Our damnded people, and our damnded ways.
?We are Youkai, and we have come for this world.?
Afterword - Seriously not important Treia !P0dSPtgivA 2012/04/03 (Tue) 08:51 No. 400 Okay, some of you may have noticed a SLIGHT similarity to a song, namely 'The Truth is Here' by Ayreon. Yes, I did practically rip this entire thing from the lyrics and gave it a Touhou spin and whatever meager talent I could put into it. Please consider it a tribute, adaptation, or whatever helps you sleep at night. No infringement was intended here. Great band and awesome song, by the way.
I am a terrible writer and no one understands me Treia !P0dSPtgivA 2012/04/14 (Sat) 08:56 No. 405 etc. etc.
Since no one apparently got it (Maybe it's because I suck as a writer), here's a line by line breakdown of what it's supposed to mean, and maybe that means it wasn't such a rip after all, as the few who read this expressed furious displeasure over such.
Spoilered because nobody gives a shit:
Last night I had that dream again. Our world was black as night. Plagued by visions of a future world, again I could not rest. Those damnded people and their wicked ways.
>The protoganist has dreams of the youkai, specifically Yukari messing with his mind.
I told of these dreams to our sages, appealed to the Arch. Warning of the darkness to engulf us. The twin Watatsukis laughed and took aback,
"Mr. L, won't you please take some meds?"
>He takes it to the leadership, and the Lunar Sisters are not particularly receptive
Today I had that dream again. Our world was black as night. I flew amongst the stars on the wings of an Angel.
>Yukari reads his earlier displeasure and seeks a different approach, demonstrating the 'greatness' of the youkai, and, mostly, herself.
"Mr. L, do you feel okay?"
I look up, to a place beyond our time. Their sunlight doesn't warm. Their colors don't run.
"Didn't you want to flee?"
>He is interrupted from his (literal) daydreaming in the midst of his romp with Yukari. He looks up to Earth, wondering about their so different world.
"Didn't you want to flee?"
>Yukari tempts him, sensing a sort of innate displeasure with the Lunarians' current society and position.
I know the truth is out there.
>Essentially, "it's not for me to know what is right".
"Didn't you want to see?"
>Yukari offers him even more than what she's shown him, a sort of subtle invitation to even come to Gensokyo.
I know the truth is in here.
>He's not exactly willing to make the plunge.
"Why should I believe you?"
>His response to what she's shown him.
"Didn't you want to flee?"
>She reminds him of the beginning of their new "relationship".
Youkai.
"Mr. L, can I erase your mind?"
>Yukari shows him everything she can, practically showcasing Gensokyo and its diversity, benefits, and its order.
"Mr. L, can I erase your mind?"
>She offers him a way to escape.
Here, the distant shadows loom. Cold machines rise from the planet. Here, in a world once proud and free.
>Luna. The creepings of a fascist regime (Not a concept uncommon to fanon), the humans knocking on their doorstep, the lack of true freedom as they hide in a hole on the moon.
"Would you free your thoughts, let all our sins abide?"
>She admits to their own flaws, but asks him to see past such trivialities and take the plunge.
I crave to have that dream again. She lives inside my head, feeling everything I can feel.
>He makes his decision. He's already a goner in his own head.
"Mr. L, could you please be still?"
>She's performing the ritual or preparation necessary to implant upon him his new worldview.
She speaks to me in dreams. She can see all I can see. She has always been my guide.
>Brainwashing done.
"Mr. L, hush now. Please think again of us.."
>There's a small teething process, but Yukari makes sure he is on the 'right' path.
"I know the truth is out there.
Why should we believe you?"
"Didn't you want to see?"
"I know the truth is here.."
"Why should we deceive you?"
Didn't you want to feel?"
>This is a turnaround. It's not meant to be understood right away, and damnit you'll see I fucked up the last line (fixed here). It's not meant to have a first quotation mark, it's meant to be two parts of the same dialogue. Mr. L, in his new zeal, instead proposes she come to the moon, desperately seeking relief for its people. Yukari is the first speaker here.
"We are all here.."
"There is no one there.."
"You don't have to be afraid.."
>There is one last struggle after Mr. L has invited them in, either by disabling safeguards or simply calling for them to come. The Lunarians discover his 'betrayal', and attempt to undo what has been done, too late. Yukari is making sure he lasts till they get there by gently assuring him. The speakers here are Yukari/Lunarian/Yukari in that order.
"We are Youkai, and we have come for this world."
>The invasion of the Moon by Youkai. A slightly different take, for sure. I also fudged the timeline so that the Apollo landings could line up shortly before or during this sequence, but that timeline is sketchy at best, regardless.
So there, that's it. Forbidden Lunarian-Youkai love, complete with brainwashing, mental S&M, and totally wanting it. Sorry if you didn't like the heavy-handed adaptation.
Treia !P0dSPtgivA 2012/04/20 (Fri) 00:45 No. 414 Not a problem, but since you're here, what'd you think?
Anonymous 2012/04/21 (Sat) 12:32 No. 416 Hmm, I knew it has something to do with the Lunarians but I didn't think of it that way.
I also would never associate machines with the Lunarians. If I think of machines, I think of the humans on the Outside World.
So yeah, I didn't get that story at all.
Anonymous 2012/04/24 (Tue) 17:06 No. 422 Don't know the song but it's ok I guess. Probably not more than that because I don't know the song
