Sorry but, fulfilling wishes for our fairies add anything to their stats or is it just for flavor?

A little bit of both. For example, a few of the fairies are said to have rusty skills in certain things. That in turn means that if you put them where they can be used with those skills, instead of taking, say, a week, to get anything out of them with it, it would instead only take a day or so, and you might get a bit more than you would have expected. Also, it improves morale and makes them happy.

Ok, I'm reposting a more complete name/bio list here. Any advice/suggestions would be appreciated.

01. Agateia Girasole: Was born in the Underground. Can find certain types of stones and underground life with ease.

02. Akira: Used to hang out with the fairies Takashi and Kiyoko before she was captured and experimented on by a Human who had found a way to keep her bodily remains whole and intact, even seperate from the rest of her body, or her state of being. Her escape was due to luck more than anything else. She distrusts Humans as a consequence, and utterly loathes the cold, as it remids of her time spend in those frozen containers. She sometimes wonders what became of Mr. West though.

03. Alexandria: She dreams of conquest, and upon learning of Tabuki sought out a territory so that she could battle with her forces, fight honorably, and if defeated join Tabuki's army so that she could become a General in Tabuki's army. She also dreams of starting a harem for herself.

04. Amber Rose: She got stuck in magical amber, and did not die. She does not know how long she was stuck in there, only that it had been quite some time indeed. An Oni found the Amber in the Underground, and sold it to a jeweler. The jeweler planned on selling what he called the "Amber Rose" for quite a bit of money, and was quite displeased when the amber was broken and the fairy inside made her escape.

05. Anne: While many fairies can and do hurt other beings due to ignorance or carelessness, Anne is very different in that she knows that her malicious actions can and do bring pain, suffering, and death unto others. Anne likes killing things, and goes out of her way to kill and torture. Anne carries an anger that she had to flee the surface after she killed a human adult about 40 years ago. Since that time, many of the 'unexplained' human infant deaths in Gensokyo have dropped drastically.

06. Arras Abatie: (No Bio As Of Yet)

07. Balais Windsweeper: (No Bio As Of Yet)

08. Beatrice Pommel: (No Bio As Of Yet)

09. Bellflower: Surprisingly enoug

Lurker/Newfag here,

Read this, which made me want to voice my suggestion: http://www.touhou-project.com/gensokyo/res/4411.html

I read a lot of archived stories, and when I finish, often I'd like to be able to add a comment (saged of course, but you can't comment with archive), because really, there isn't any where else to comment about the story (other than a casual reference elsewhere). Maybe about the development, ending or lackof, or address the author. I'd think I'd even enjoy reading other people's comments slowly accumulated over the months/years. It kinda feels cold and empty when you finish a story that had you emotionally, intellectually or otherwise hooked, and everything froze the day the story finished. I know there are probably good reasons for the archive being unpostable, but still.

So you made this thread to comment about archived stories? Or just to discuss about it?

Just create a thread here or in /gensokyo/ to talk about finished stories. Sounds like the best solution. Bumping threads would just piss people off and I'm sure you're not the only one who feels like that. Some of the authors of those stories are still around and liable to see any discussion. Alternatively, you can try to talk about stories in IRC, though that may require good timing.

I highly doubt this'll be used this time, but I'm putting it out there, since the last time I let people look up backstory, they did nothing but search for event after event for a good day or so.

If you have any questions about RwVT, backstory or otherwise, ask it here. I'll check up when I can, which usually is when I can check up on the story thread.

I have immensely enjoyed this story since I started reading it, yesterday. It's made me interested in the universe and backstory you've created for this story. This is probably going to be a bump, but I really like this story because it creates an epic sci-fi universe that explores Reisen's backstory and who she came to be. These are a lot of questions, but I only ask them because I truly like this story.

1. Considering this story has Kaguya as the absolute monarch of the Lunarian Empire, and Eirin as the Adjutant/right-hand man of Kaguya, what of other Lunarian characters like the Watatsuki sisters? Do either of them play a part in this story?

2. How many planets have been colonized by the Lunarians? I don't mean just the Lunarian Empire, but also the rebels as well. Also how far have Lunarians explored the galaxy, and how many light years do the Lunarians of all factions control?

3. How fast is the warp travel that the Lunarians use? How many light years-per-hour does it go?

4. In a lot of science fiction, there's often a limitation on FTL that allows for scenarios, like battles, to occur without the protagonists being able to escape easily. Often times it's something like a gravity well preventing FTL travel from occuring, like with Star Wars hyperdrives. So what limitations are there on warp travel? From the description in the story, it reminds me of jump points as seen in Wing Commander (http://www.wcnews.com/wcpedia/Jump_point).

5. The power armor in use by the Lunarians, how does it compare to power armors like the MJOLNIR armor from Halo (http://halo.wikia.com/wiki/MJOLNIR), power armor like that used in Warhammer 40K (http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Power_armor & http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Terminator_armor) or the FORCE power armor in Hyperion:

So, guys, I read whole MiG (1.0 only though). I raged really hard, wtf, plotholes, etc.

Then I learnt that Kirakishou is kind of... you know. Unavailable.

So, my question is: do we have some sort of a spoiler/guide/explanation of the whole MiG plot? I don't care about anything anymore, I just want to know WHAT the hell happened there.

Afternoon! Well... Where I'm at anyway.

I'll start off nice and simple with an introduction. I've been lurking here for the past little while but have never posted before. I've decided that I want to change that by posting a story I've been thumbing around for the past couple of weeks. I'm pretty sure I've got a decent grasp on some of the basic rules around here, but I'm not entirely sure yet.I'll definitely see if I can find more written rules and FAQ's before I post my story.

Now on to my idea!

I read the "A Wastelander in Gensokyo" Story while it was still seeing updates. Then it just kinda... stopped. Now that kinda left a hole in my heart. Because I like Fallout, and I fondly remember my first Touhou induced seizure.

After I... Well I never really did beat New Vegas (Spent to much time looking for treasure and arguing with my brain that I forgot what I was supposed to do and started over) but after I "Beat" New Vegas I had an idea. That maybe I could write a sort of half-decent attempt at combining the two.

I failed, in my opinion and began a month of more than twenty-four re-writes until I had an epiphany; the story wasn't the problem, it was the Character.

I kept trying to use the stereotypical Courier deal, that wasn't working for me. Plus, I know next to nothing about frontier America, being a deeply patriotic Canadian.

So, I axed the whole "Let's take a New Vegas character and send him on a one way trip to hell!" and instead thought "How about I try answering what happened to Canada and Europe following the events of the seven hour war, while getting the Character to Gensokyo."

So, rather than doing a New Vegas Era story, I'm doing a Pre-Fallout 2 story (Two years before the start of Fallout 2, to be exact) revolving around a New-Canadian RCMP officer, named Harlan "Wayne" Waynewright, in Europe in the middle of a Nuclear Winter. I haven't figured out why yet but that's part of why I'm here.

I also decided that he's got an ally he picked up in Britain; A Scientist with a Plasma pi

OP here, finally decided to get a pen-name, hearkens back to Fallout 2... It was my favorite part of that game. Plus it's a cool sounding word.

And yes, I am. Still planning every thing and pulling together a half decent first post and I still need to grow a pair of balls and check out the IRC.

May post a note thread soon, still need a title. maybe I'll hold a write-in vote or something...

Sorry I haven't been around, I have a project due on Wednesday for Business development and Kitchen management.

What Touhou remixes would you guys recommend? Someone recently suggested I listed to 'Golden City Factory's' "Paradise of amber grow" (http://vgmdb.net/album/11600), but though it was nearly impossible to find, find it I did (http://www.4shared.com/get/ssd2r4o_/_C74__Golden_City_Factory_Para.html). Any other remix suggestions that run along these lines?

I've always enjoyed what is good. A good song can be found in any genre. Granted, I prefer acoustic and classical, but the unique, hell, even the techno doesn't bother me if it's "Good." :D

I'll check out that song though. It does sound like it's something I'll enjoy.:D

If you like classical, then I recommend Wave's Symphonic Fantasia Cherry Blossom. It's awesome and I like it. There's also a nice time stop in the song Ever More/ Private Square.

Personally, I can like any music, as long as there's no lyrics. Including Tetris' theme.

Now that we're metaphorically yelled ourselves hoarse debating what exactly the problems (if any)the boards face are, let's turn our attention and apparent overabundance of free time to possible solutions. This thread is going here in /words/ in an attempt to steer discussion and possible overflow away from our conventional boards.

There is truth in much of what >>/gensokyo/5424 said. Until they started lobbing insults at what was pretty clearly a typo and identifying themselves as a hypocrite.

Moving on, in my mind much of the problem of inactivity (within the current user-base. Won't go into 'new blood', though I think it wouldn't be entirely horrible. Some of you people really make reading threads a chore)stems from readers being unwilling to step outside their preferred genre's and such. That's understandable, and in a larger community probably wouldn't make as much of a difference. When you have new stories that have potential to them completely ignored for premise alone, at least here on TH-P, problems arise. To be honest, I have no real all-encompassing, or single solution to offer. All I can suggest is to give more stories a try, offer some critical advice where it's called for and read and vote more. Maybe add a line or two of commentary, even if just to say you enjoy the topic or appreciate the effort being put into a given story, I get the feeling it reassures writers. Granted, we can't coddle every special snowflake, and it is not beneficial for us to do so, but some stories are sadly neglected. Writers who express a desire to improve, working with decent (and creative)concepts among them. I am guilty of this, and am attempting to do better.

Writers themselves? I can't really speak for them. I know personally setting manageable deadlines for myself usually helps, but I'm also a notorious procrastinator. Genuine drive to write probably help this some, as well as when interest in taken in their stories. Either way, most of us appreciate the time and effort that goes into what you do.

Case-in-point:

Though some sampler threads in /th/ (The most popular board) wouldn't be a bad idea; one for a general look at other board's stories (people have the bad habit of pidgeonholing certain boards) and one for would be newcomers to try their hand in a risk-free environment. Please expand on this. I'm not entirely sure what you mean.

I wouldn't if they were sorted by genre, though. I'd end up sticking solely to whatever board had the [genre I prefer] Every reader has their own preferences. If we restructure boards by genre, then the set of readers who have narrow interests and lack the time or inclination to broaden their reading simply will not check other boards. This is not necessarily a bad thing, as it is essentially what board divisions are supposed to do. In structuring the boards, we should first consider their purpose, beyond giving us a bunch of different pages to check. If we want to encourage readers to try different things (which seems like a reasonable goal), then we shouldn't give the boards any kind of defining, segregating features, either in terms of cast (as now) or genre (as proposed). It should be obvious why this isn't a practical solution.

Fortunately, there are other measures we can take for the same goal. A consolidated list of stories already exists. Two sorting functions would give new use to a list of stories: sorting by their creation date (thus finding the newest stories) and by the date of their last update (thus finding the most recently active stories at a single glance).

If we do not accept the goal of broadening reader interests, then sorting stories by genre is much more attractive. It seems reasonable that the people who would appreciate a story, but haven't checked it, are those who enjoy other stories of similar genre in another board. This only runs into problems when you have a story with significant cross-board appeal--this problem already exists, but would be far stronger if the differences between boards became more meaningful. That is, people who like the SDM crew and grimdark are more likely to check /forest/ for grimdar

I mean two topics in /th/

One showing say outstanding example posts from a story with the synopsis of it as to show people that so and so board isn't just say NEETs, Soldiers and space sagas (/Eientei/) or YAF's fagfest (/Shrine/)

I think the current system is nice if someone's in the mood to read about certain characters, and possibly as a way for some of them to shine. It helps set up a general direction of writing. The only flaws are: The Village/Temple aren't exactly neatly included in anything and too many people post in /th/ for the sole sake of popularity when they'd have been better served in another board. That and there was a few stories that would have fit /others/ far better than /th/.

As far as the newbie thread? It's a chance for a newbie writer to try writing something to get reviewed without the trouble of making a new thread. This way s/he'd get some critism and improve before fully committing to making a thread. I'm hoping it would encourage some to actually try writing despite fears they might suck.

Except that something like a newbie thread would rather be used as an insult.
Don't think that every Anonymous is ready to give constructive criticism.

Being a critic is difficult. A good critic must be patient, attentive, and more or less flawless.
