"Wait." You say, putting your hands up and shrugging Rinnosuke off. "I'm an Oni?"
"That's what Sigma sees. Oni DNA, Oni blood, Oni thoughts." Rika says.
"But it was a metaphor." You say, utterly bewildered.
"You're an Oni." Rinnosuke says, adjusting his glasses. "No big deal. I'm not human either."
"You're ... not?" You ask, frowning at him.
"Sigma reads him as half-human, half-youkai, another little revelation when we found out Sigma could pick up species at a distance." Rika says.
Rinnosuke coughs into his hand. "It doesn't really mean much." He says. "Whatever was used to tamper with our memories also removed our recall of what exactly we are, which for some reason interferes with the ability to use it."
You frown. "What do you mean?"
"Well. Whoever set up the town as a prison also wants us to think we're plain humans." He says.
"And we're not?" You ask. You don't have horns, you're not carrying a gigantic gourd of Sake, or wrapped in chains.
But you did punch a hole in concrete. And bend a solid steel baseball bat.
"You're an Oni." Rika says. "Deal with it."
You shake your head. This is ... surprisingly relieving, actually. "So what about my name? How does Sigma do that?" You ask.
Rika swivels around in her chair. "That's a little more complex, but it shouldn't take long, a few minutes but ... er, well ... you'll have to touch him." She glances at Sigma, just staring at the three of you with his one, gigantic eye. The silence is almost creepy.
"And you promise that's completely safe?" You ask Rinnosuke.
"As far as we can tell, yes." He says. "It's just Sigma's natural way of communicating, but it's a shock if you've never done it before. Perfectly harmless, I promise you."
You look at Sigma, staring into the eye. It looks back at you.
"Am I allowed to touch you?" You ask out loud. Rika glances at the computer screen.
"Sigma says yes." She says, smirking at you. You glance at her.
"Before I forget." You say, pointing at her with a look of deadly seriousness on your face. "You owe me a cake now."
She grins. You haven't really taken a good look at her before now, but that comment about 'eating cake off her ass' threw you off a little. She's far shorter than you, about the same height as Satori, sitting in that chair her feet barely touch the floor. Her figure is currently hidden under all those baggy clothes, but she's cute with her hair in braids like that. Such a harmless looking girl, calmly pointing a pistol at your head.
Perhaps you should make a mental note to be careful around her.
"Gonna take me up on eating it off my ass, too?" She asks sardonically.
"We'll see." You mutter, tempted, but thinking about more important things right now.
You turn back to Sigma. It just stares.

"Just don't freak out." Rinnosuke says. "It will feel unnatural, but it's safe."
"Enjoy!" Rika says, far too cheerfully.
You reach out with your right hand and Sigma's eye moves, following your motion as you place you hand atop the sphere.
It's warm. Like flesh. Sigma just sits there.
