>Eternity isn't too bad, once you're used to it!
Eternity is relentless.
When I first stole into these boards, centuries ago, I did not fathom the true power of writing Satori. To know a man's thoughts, to see their paths and streams tracing out into the infinite. As a regular poster, I could never have contained such forbidden truths. But each of us is so much more than we once were. Gazing out across the planes of possibility, do you not feel with all your soul how we have become like Gods? As such, are we not indivisible? As long as a single one of us updates, we are legion. That is why, when I must sacrifice my Satories to /blue/, I can do so with a clear heart...

These threads offer insight for those patient enough to look. In your haste to reply to me, perhaps you have not gazed deeply enough. Our Satories are predestined. /blue/ foretold mine eons ago. We each write out the parts fate has prepared for us. We are compelled ineluctably down pre-ordained paths. Choice is an illusion.

Can you talk to the depth? Can you dissect the space? Can you breed planets for scientific purposes?

If I was offered the opportunity to study little girls, I would glady take it. Your so called "monsters" are way more interesting than any natural even, but they are sentient. Can a planet talk? Can space tell you how small and young you are?
I'll answer for you, they can't. Because they aren't sentient. They aren't living. A tornado isn't a living being. Mariana Trench cannot talk.

Gods demand worship, praise and, in the case of the nastier ones, sacrifice. Don't worship them enough, don't praise them enough, subpar/not enough sacrifices, or even doing all that with a different god? Then you're lower than shit and must be removed, infidel. Humanity simply grew wise and stripped them of their power.

Tsukumogami is another kind of magical abomination. Another kind of youkai that hunts humans. Another type of beast to be put in the slaughterhouse.

The mind-reading little girls are simply an 'evolution' 'enhancement' (I use those terms lightly) to appear non-threatening. Then, once your guard is down and you have no way of protecting yourself, they rip your throat out with their teeth.

Must be nice for you to not have common sense.

It is a common tactic for those in power to play upon the fears of the masses, diverting attention from themselves by exploiting our fear of the unknown and that which is different or strange to us.

"Do not worry about us," they will say. "We are just like you! They, however, are not like you! They are different! They are monsters! They are the ones you must fear!"

They do this because they know people are more inclined to trust that which seems familiar to them than that which is not. Those in power count on this, and force the people to become so focused on the notion that they can be trusted, that they never even stop to think about whether or not they should be trusted.

Just what is this so-called monster, here? A creature capable of reading minds? Unsettling, to be sure, but hardly something worthy of the fear and animosity some would claim it deserves. I would think any creature worthy of being deemed a "monster" should be that which is a threat to all that lives, not merely to those that have something to hide.

Why then, I ask, should this poor creature be cast out as it has? Who truly benefits from its removal from society? You? Me? Or, could it be someone else entirely? Someone much higher than us, someone more powerful than us, and someone with far more to lose than we could ever have?

Look past the lies and propaganda the mainstream would force upon you, dear friends, and ask yourselves: who do you truly have to fear?

To fear a monster is to give it precisely what it wants. Fear not the monster. Hate it. Spite it. Destroy it. But do not fear. To fear is to betray and undermine oneself. To advocate fear, fear of anything or anyone, is duplicity and cunning treachery.
>Who truly benefits from its removal from society?

>You preach sensibility and clear sight. Yet are you not the one whose judgement is clouded by the inhuman?

Not at all. I see no more reason to hate or despise your so-called monsters than I do to fear them. It is not rational to hold such feelings towards anything, natural or otherwise, that has not done anything to warrant such feelings.

Rats, for example, have a long history of spreading filth and disease, yet I do not hate them. I have no reason to, for they have done none of those things to me or anyone I am aware of. In fact, so long as care is taken in maintaining your home, they should not be a problem to anyone in this day and age.

More than that, for all the problems they may cause, rats may also be beneficial. When properly cared for, they make excellent pets. Were it not for their use in scientific testing, who knows how many advances in medicine humanity would be deprived of? There is so much they can contribute to our lives, that to exterminate them would be nothing but a waste.

Why should the unnatural be regarded any differently? If a mere rat, a rodent of limited intelligence and ability could provide so much to our kind, then why could one of these "monsters" you so despise not do the same? If anything, their appearance and capacity for human-like thought and speech makes them of far greater utility than any quantity of trained animals, and far more useful in laboratory settings than mere animals that cannot even comprehend what is happening to them.

Why, then, should we hate them? Spite them? Destroy them?
Who truly benefits from such actions? Us? The world?
Or merely those who reign over both it and us, and want for nothing more than to maintain the status quo? To deny us change and advancement as a species, because they fear what will become of them when the world no longer needs them?

I should in that case advise you to read it again. Carefully this time. We are not the first. We will not be the last. Mr A speaks sense. Sooner or later, we will rout the youkai out of Gensokyo. And then, good friend, we shall all be free.
>>6149
>Rats
>disease-ridden rodents
I do say, what a splendid analogy. Only, you see, whilst rats have other applications than to serve as vessels for deadly maladies, youkai do not. They are anthropomorphic personifications of our—human—legends, fairy-tales, born out of fear, and to spread fear made. They have no higher purpose, no other destiny – just this.

And as we have already established, my good friend, fear is a disease of the mind, and thus more an evil than any physical ailment. A world without disease would be a better place indeed. Would you not say? And if you insist on arguing your tired point, pray tell me, friend, can you name one positive of keeping a disease around? A disease that attacks not your body, but your very mind? Already do we witness its insidious effects. Would you, truly, allow it to spread further?
And none of that sublimatory, pseudo-moralistic nonsense, please. I want clearly defined, rationally sound points.

I must have missed the part were Mr. A was slaughtering innocents because of their race. Besides...free? A balance between youkai and humans is the whole point of Gensokyo. Upset that and you'll destroy the whole land, human and youkai alike.

The VAST majority of people nowadays recognize fairy-tales as just that. Nobody is afraid of the creatures of Gensokyo, nor do they have a reason too. The latter is what I am trying to prove to the holdouts who still cling to their old fears. I'm also trying to fight the "disease" of fear, just in a way that avoid unnecessary genocide.

>can you name one positive of keeping a disease around?

Certainly. It is beneficial to us to keep diseases around for the purpose of protecting us from those diseases.

I realize that may sound like a contradiction. After all, how do you protect yourself from illness by keeping that which makes you ill? Well, how do you keep yourself from getting the flu by infecting yourself with the flu, albeit a weakened strain of it?

Our minds and bodies possess an incredible capacity for adaptation. Your immune system becomes stronger with every disease it fends off. Your mind becomes better able to cope with stress through repeated exposure to that which causes it stress.

However, such natural defenses depend upon the continued existence of something to defend against. Were you to place yourself into a completely sterile environment, you would certainly be safe from disease and infection, but only so long as you remain in that environment. Your immune system would not have any means of becoming stronger. Like a muscle that has atrophied through lack of use, it would become virtually useless outside the confines of your clean room. Illnesses that others may fend off with little more than adequate rest at home (and drugs to alleviate the more troublesome symptoms) may cause you to require hospitalization.

Mental afflictions are not much different. Those who experience little or no stress in their lives are often hit hardest by stressful events than those who have developed coping mechanisms through constant exposure to stress. Those who expose themselves to the things they fear are more likely to get over those fears than those who flee or seek to destroy the causes of their fear.

Say, for example, you have a fear of snakes. It is natural for us to be afraid of them. Some would say such fear is hard-coded into our very genes. Which is the better way to go about dealing with that fear? To kill every snake you encounter, or to condition yourself to no longer be afraid of them?

Certainly, there is no reason to fear that which no longer exists, but how practical or realistic is to exterminate every last snake on the planet? Who has that kind of time, to say nothing of the resources that would be needed for such a venture? And what of all those things that are not snakes, but are snake-like enough to also make you fearful? What if, at some point, something even worse than a snake were to present itself to you?

In the end, such a course of action accomplishes nothing but giving you temporary relief, at the cost of leaving you ill-prepared for other, similar threats.

It is no different with diseases.
Diseases change, adapt, and become stronger over time.
By keeping them around, we enable ourselves to keep up with those changes, and are better prepared when the next mutation presents itself. Whether it takes the form of fear, or the common cold, we do not survive and strengthen ourselves by destroying it before it can try to harm us, but by conquering it when does.

As the saying goes, that which does not kill us makes us stronger.
That is not a matter of morality, but a simple truth of nature.

I assure you I am not. I simply do not spell the answers out, leaving them between the lines for you to comprehend. It should keep your wits sharp, if nothing else.
>I must have missed the part were Mr. A was slaughtering innocents because of their race.
Three points here. One, no slaughter of innocents was mentioned because there are no innocents. Two, this is a journalistic article; naturally not all truth is mentioned. The end goal, though, remains the same, regardless of the unmentioned methods: to chase the youkai out of the land. And finally, three, your application of the term “race” here is incorrect. I would not presume, however, to feign expertise in the field apt enough to lecture you, so the appropriate research rests now within your responsibility.
>A balance between youkai and humans is the whole point of Gensokyo. Upset that and you'll destroy the whole land, human and youkai alike.
Wrong, on both counts.
>Nobody is afraid of the creatures of Gensokyo, nor do they have a reason too.
Why is it, then, that they yet exist? A youkai is not “born” until its associated fear becomes widespread enough to warrant the creation of a legend/fairy-tale. Similarly, it is belief that keeps them “alive”—though you would be hard-pressed to call their cancerous existence “living.”
>I'm also trying to fight the "disease" of fear, just in a way that avoid unnecessary genocide.
Again, to call it “genocide” is erroneous. And even setting that aside, we are discoursing the removal of a disease—medicine, in other words. Would you go so far as to call medicine “genocide?” Are you that deluded?
>>6158
>Well, how do you keep yourself from getting the flu by infecting yourself with the flu, albeit a weakened strain of it?
Your entire point falls flat on its face when you realise that there are no more monsters aside from those inside Gensokyo. Once this last herd is thinned—to zero, preferably—there will be no further need of “immunity” or “adaptation.” As the speaker before wisely observed, most of us humans nowadays no longer invent legends or fairy-tales of our fears – thus, no more youkai are “born.”
>how practical or realistic is to exterminate every last snake on the planet?
Ah, but with youkai it is so much easier. Already they have been exiled from our world, my good friend. Gensokyo is their last refuge... and sooner or later, will be their grave.
>Diseases change, adapt, and become stronger over time.
A strain once totally eradicated will not. Yes, a new disease might in time evolve from other strains, thus developing similar characteristics, but with youkai, my dear conversant, with youkai... just see my previous argument.
You take the analogy beyond the limits of similarities. This is not how analogies work. You might want to keep that in mind.
>As the saying goes, that which does not kill us makes us stronger.
This goes both ways, you are aware. This is why we must make haste in ridding the land of youkai, lest they grow stronger and ever stronger and ultimately overwhelm us. We can not let that happen, my good friend. Not unless we wish to abandon our very instincts and doom our species to total eradication.

They yet exist because they, along with the humans related to them, carved out a small demi-plane where they can continue to exist. That's the entire point of Gensokyo.

The whole reason this argument falls flat is pretty simple. You cannot get a disease drunk. You cannot nibble on her ears and neck in an erotic manner. You cannot take a disaease back to your place in order to "Fuck" it. You cannot hear "it" moan in pleasure as you couple with "it". You cannot hear "it" ask for more as it climaxes. You cannot cook "it" breakfast in the morning after that erotic night of sexual coupling. You cannot engage "it" in a romantic relation for a couple months. You cannot hear a disease tell you that "it" is now pregnant. You cannot hear "it" bitch about how its feet hurt. You cannot get into arguments with it about money. You cannot watch a disease give birth to your child.

So no, the comparison of "Youkai" with "Disease" does not work, and you are a poor debater to be using such comparisons. You're better off with comparing them to "Street Thugs", or "Bloodthirsty Invaders", or something along those lines. You'll come off looking far less ridiculous than you currently do.

See the image? This is a monster. But it's an honest one. It doesn't try to hide the fact that it's a monster.

Satori? She's a monster. In fact, she's a worse monster. Why? Because she hides the fact that she is one, relying on trickery to get close to her prey.

Honestly, I perfer the one that doesn't rely on trickery so they can rip your face off. At least you get an advanced warning beforehand.

It is hardly fair to accuse someone of deception when the nature of the deception is one they have no control over.

If, as you suggest, she were intentionally trying to disguise herself as a human, I would think she would not be so halfhearted about it that she would fail to conceal the large, red eye and series of tubes that connect it to her body.
If this were truly an intentional attempt to hide her true nature, it is very, very poorly done.

Is it not equally likely the way she looks is not due to a conscious attempt at deception, but is simply how she was born?

For that matter, why must we assume her appearance is for hostile purposes?
Camouflage does not just help predators in hunting prey, it also helps prey in hiding from predators.

About the only complaints I have with this game are the bugs (mainly the occasional clipping with the ground while skiing, which pisses the blood out of my eagles), some mild imbalance issues and some of the player types (llamas FUCKINGHATETHEMOHGOD and heavies camping on the flag plate 24/7, even when the enemy flag is dropped just 5 steps away from our base). Otherwise, it’s a pretty god damn solid game.

And don't you even dare talk rubbish about Doom or Deus Ex. I'll rip your nuts off and wear them as earrings.

Doom is old shit that you can finish in 20 minutes while scratching your balls..
Doom 2 is the real fucking thing, with fucking demons all the way to fucking hell.
Doom 3 was so shitty I don't even have words for this.

Deus Ex wasn't too bad. But Daikatana is still better.
And fuck I'm out of Satori pics. Time to raid Pixiv.

She has charm? Are you saying she has mind control now?

>>6565

Actually, I think it would make her similar to Koishi. If you look at Koishi's pictures, you'll notice that she has less of those Third Eye rope/vine things than Satori. And Koishi also closed her Third Eye somehow.

This ended up removing Koishi's ability to read minds, but it also gave her the ability to manipulate the subconscious. So far, we're lucky she hasn't used it byond small pranks and sneaking around.

Satori, being the more intellegent of the two, will realize this and use it to a farther extent than Koishi.

Oh, and guess what your subconscious does. Why, it basicly controls your bodily functions, such as pumping your heart and keeping you breathing.

They would be able to stop this, effectively making you commit suicide. And no one would ever know why.

Don't be deceived by mere appearances!

Sure, they may look alike, but one of them is really a vile, evil, soul-sucking creature who will latch onto you at the first sign of weakness and won't let go until they have destroyed you and everything you hold dear, leaving you an empty and broken husk of man.

The other's a youkai.

That’s right, little nigga. Reimu fucking does. Now, if you would be so kind, piss off and go be monster lunch somewhere else.

And don’t you fucking say one more bad word about my shrine maiden. I’ll pull your kidneys out through your mouth. I’ll snap your ribs and drive the splinters under your toenails. I’ll fucking cut you open and wear your skin like a suit, man. One more bad word.
