Facts why YAF is/was the best writer on the site:

- He loved writing
- He was good at writing, providing good ideas coupled with an exciting storyline, which had a bit of sex. Just what Anon likes.
- He makes/made the board more lively with his contribution to the site.
- Kept his trolling on IRC, where it belongs.
- Even after being a bit butthurt, he came back later because he knew he couldn't abondon us and needs to provide more storis for us.
- People like HY and others ragequit, YAF will always stay as a pillar to support the site.

I could go on but i think those points are enough. Everyone who is new to the site should at first read This Shrine before anything else. It is a timeless classic after all. Not devoid of errors and mistakes. But hey, that makes it so good. Not even newer people could fill in his shoes.

Oh lord...

your doing this on purpose aren't you.

YAF was not the best and probably never will be but he went form being a somewhat average writer to one of the better ones on the site.

He's still a troll though, and he did not keep his trolling only on IRC

Many writers here love writing. Many of them were drived off the website, only to come back later, stronger than before. FoOl isn't the only one in this case.

Personally, I'm not too fond of YAF's stories. While his stories are interesting, his style is hard to follow. He gives me the impression of picking random words in a dictionnary.

Memoria in Discord is difficult to read because of that impression, but also because the story itself is complicated. And I don't mean complicated as "lot of character, and lot of implied events between said characters", but rather complicated as "hey you're fighting against Reisen? Here comes Reimu, so you win! But you can't use her, because it'll be cheating! Also, you remember that rabbit who betrayed you? She's in prison right now! Or, and you're mad. And that's all Reisen's fault. See you later, have a nice day!"

With a good writer, it could work fine, but with YAF's weird style, it just end up being weird. Result is, that his story are difficult to read, and are really tiring.

Beside, OP, I don't think YAF is a good writer because of those things you mentioned. He may be a good MEMBER, but that doesn't make him a good WRITER. Teruyo is an admin, he's practically lifting the sun and the moon on the website, and yet, since he update once in a month, that doesn't make him a good writer. Now compare him to Lion or to Do The Right Thing's writer, who are updating quite fastly.
Being a good member doesn't automatically means a person is also a good writer. There's tsurupettan, for example. He went into an argument with some admin (not sure about the details) and everyone got butthurt. Yet, there are still many guys liking his stories.

TL;DR: YAF isn't that great as a writer, even if he's good, and there are many other writer that deserve their own thread.

I freely admit that MiD is/was a mess, and for a good reason. It was a zero-effort story, meant more as a psychological outlet for me to tide me over till some hard times passed than an actual story with a thought-out storyline (which it has never really had, not even today). Sorry, everyone who read it and thought there was something more to it. There wasn't. In fact, I can vaguely recall stating so on several occasions on IRC.

Now, TiTS has a little bit more effort put into it (which is probably why I can't keep a consistent update schedule), as well as a more comfortable (for me, as a writer) narrative perspective, but: 1) I'm still unable to spot my own mistakes and typos before a certain amount of time has passed (usually a day), hence the reader will often trip over those mistakes while reading, which is really grating, and 2) I'm living a very interesting life right now, which makes it harder to concentrate on writing, for which I suppose I should apologise. Or should I? I don't know, I still enjoy doing it, even if less frequently compared to the past.
It'll probably irritate you a bit when you read this, but when I'm faced with the choice between forcing myself to write to please you and not forcing myself to write and having fun instead, I'll nearly always go with the latter. I don't care for attention so much that I'll forgo my own amusements just to get some.

Also, me, a good member? Oh please. You insult me. The good members are the readers who have stuck with us (writers) and our crazy antics ever since YWUiG. Those are the people you should be thanking. The site would be no more if not for them. Writers are crazy people. Especially when they're under 18 and have an overblown opinion of themselves. (snork snork, self-criticism, so funnay) Anyone who puts up with us deserves credit. Or at least updates.

Nope, I meant to reference Yuugi, a mere "stage 3" boss who could rival Suika in power. You know Suika the Oni that is widely considered to have won against "incident mode Reimu" (That is if we go by the 'first ending is canon' belief).

Or a much more recent example, Yuyuko's appearance in TD as a stage 1 boss.

There's a deep meaning to the Stage Number. It represents not only one's skill, but also one's motivation. Forsooth, Yuyuko was a Stage 1 Boss, because she didn't gave a fuck and didn't wanted to fight.

I'm pretty sure I can write something deeply moving about the True Meaning Behind One's Stage Number.

Ever since IN, the position of Extra stage boss has been rather cheapened compared to earlier extra/phantasm stage bosses to the point that being one isn't an end all/be all power ranking. Most Extra bosses post IN are more stage 5-6 general ability at most.

But the whole motivation thing is a rather good point as Satori was just an unfortunate bystander in the wake of Orin and Okuu's antics.
