This is something that has been on my mind for a long time now. You could say that it bothered me, or rather, that I did not know of the right way to talk about it until now.

Why do so many of the people here regard Teruyo as someone to be avoided, to be regarded and respected less than other writers? Is he really that terrible? He has written so much, so often and in such a long time even with the horrible reputation he has. It is just sad, that is some goddamn dedication to his readers if you ask me. I have yet to see someone else who has such willpower to write for us. But I am not here to talk about who does or who does not have willpower. Neither do I want to compare him to anyone else.

All I want is to understand why things are as they are. I know that there is some grudge and ill will towards him from some unknown reasons that I am not really sure of. It probably comes from that he never was popular on IRC and had his own channel and tried to do his own thing, over to things going wrong in his story, but I am convinced that one should not blame him from what his readers want. He really tried hard in his second run to make it more enjoyable and better for his readers and the quality improved overall. Sometimes, I even get the feeling that some kind of stigma hangs over /eientei/ because people are convinced that the board is Teruyo's, so it must be bad and must be avoided. Is this the reason why the place is so less active then the rest? But there really is no reason for this, it's a good place that has many good stories.

I actually don't know if I have seen anyone who legitimately thinks what he writes is good. As you know, every writer wants to know what their readers think, their criticisms, whether they are bad or good. Many want discussion too. But mostly they want to know if what they wrote is good and if you, their reader enjoyed it. It fuels them, keeps them on track and helps them write. Besides, I never see his name in any recommendations on the site or discussion in other threads, and even on other sites his story is never brought up in a positive context, if at all.

I am writing this because I think it is time that we leave past reputation behind us, sort the things that happened out and move forward. Not that I am trying to convince you to read what he writes or even like him, but rather to give Teruyo a fair chance, to judge him solely on his content. Even if you don't believe it, he pours his heart into every update. And if you have a problem, you might as well talk to him about it or what you think of his writing.

Why shouldn't I just delete this thread? I'm not comfortable with its indulgent nature. It's not my thing to spill over elsewhere on the site and would ask people not to do the same on my behalf.

Just stay on the Sideline and stop intimidating people.
As long as you are here people are too worried about banning.

what

Are you for real?
Better yet, are you random anon?

Anyway, I really don't know why. It would be easy to say 'because of the first run of DoaLF', but I can't imagine people still being butthurt about that.

I wouldn't say it's spilling out into other boards so much as it is spilling out into /blue/, which is what I thought it was here for in the first place.

I have never banned anyone for expressing an opinion. I have banned people for shitposting, votespam/proxies and general disruption of the site - same as every other person on the site's staff. No, not even wiseman has gotten banned for expressing his opinion, as far removed from the facts as it often is.

There is little point to this thread. What do you expect? Anyone who has spent five minutes talking to me on IRC would know I'm easy to talk to and probably would not hold a negative opinion of me. Anyone who has read what I've written would know that I try to communicate with my audience and constantly better myself. This thread will potentially only drudge up old talking points which have long since been addressed appropriately. If anyone doesn't like me because of what they've heard by proxy it's their loss. If anyone doesn't like me for something I've done to them, I've always striven to discuss things openly and thoroughly - I cannot do any more than that.

Personally I don't mind negative reputations because at the end of the day I feel that I do right by my readers and they're the ones I cater to anyways. It's not like I need to be popular either to improve the site or run it either. Sure it would be nice to have the respect most other writers have but it's only sometimes that it's noticeable anyways.

The issue isn't the fact that it's here in /blue/ or anywhere else, it's that I'm not comfortable in making myself into an issue - or having someone else do it for me. It's highly unfair that someone would bring me up in another writer's thread, where it's inappropriate to contest and discuss things (as often is the case). It's always been my policy to stick to my own threads to discuss things and elsewhere just behave as just another reader. And despite the continual baying of some it's exactly what I do.

/blue/ has no defined purpose, it was an experiment. Same as the other two boards. It's not any more or less correct to have this thread here than elsewhere. I guess what I'm saying is that I'm no egomaniac and it's uncomfortable for others to make a fuss where there needn't be one.

Because he's the hero THP deserves, but not the one it needs right now. So, we'll hunt him, because he can take it. Because he's not our hero. He's a silent guardian. A watchful protector. A Dark Knight.

But yeah, this thread is pointless. Even if there is widespread antipathy against Teruyo for whatever reason (and if there is, then it must be confined to IRC, because I don't see any of it on the boards except from Wiseman), you can't get people to like someone by telling them to "hey, like this guy".

I do kind of wish he would write something else, though. I keep wanting to pick up DoLF when I catch bits and pieces of its recent updates, but 19 update-heavy threads is just too intimidating.

...wasn't that YAF?

That's everyone, it's a cliche line now - though it would probably make most sense for someone who has actual mod powers.

Even if it is not mean it is true. Plus maybe rants.

Yes, the Rants are the best.
