>>21144 imo, crossovers are born of a "if some is good, more is better" mentality. In this case, it's "I like these two things, therefore I will put them together and it will be double good". Kind of like a McGangbang.
I'd personally rather see people do inventive things with the base Touhou setting, even if it means taking liberties with the canon. People tend to do that already anyway.
I can't really imagine what an American Touhou fan would also be into. In Japan, it would be a pretty safe bet to simply assume Touhou fans identify with the anime otaku croud. But America has it's own subculture of intrests and mannerisms; such that I really woulden't even be able to hazard a guess as to what would truly be popular here.
>>21175 First world = allied with the United States during the Cold War Second world = allied with the Soviet Union during the Cold War Third world = not allied with either the United States or Soviet Union during the Cold War.
That is the actual formal definition. Despite having a very quickly-growing economy, Ireland is a third-world country, since it remained neutral during the Cold War. The more you know~
That depends greatly, broheim. If you've got a complete, clear-cut idea with a beginning and an ending and all the other necessary ingredients that just fell out of your skull spontaneously, great. You are the one percent. The rest of us plebeians have to think up those things as they come to us, which is far from easy sometimes.
See that? That isn't the face of joy. That face has seen some shit. I bet Daiyousei has all sorts of problems that get her down on a daily basis. Like all her friends keep getting killed by poachers looking for fairy dust.
I think our brethren in the joy thread are doing themselves a great disservice by allowing themselves to be blinded by Daiyousei's cute exterior, as It's only a matter of time before her troubled past catches up to her.
I think Kyouko should be the OP pic next time. All she does is chill and yell at strangers. If that isn't the very definition of happiness, then I don't know what is.
I have been looking for an Usatei 'techno' or whatever remix for a week. All because some faggot posted it on youtube and then he CLOSED THE GODDAMN ACCOUNT. AND SOME FAGGOT FORGOT TO WRITE DOWN THE SOURCE.
GODDAMNIT FUCK. HOW HARD CAN FINDING AN ARRANGE BE? TOO FUCKING HARD IT SEEMS.
So after two months of hiatus because of exams and life in general, I decided it was about time I updated my story for once. I figured that, since I've lost practice, I should read a book beforehand to remember how to write decently well. Coincidentally, a friend of mine recommended the Discworld series about that time.
I loved The Colour of Magic and The Light Fantastic so much, I've spent the whole past week devouring book after book. I fear I won't feel the urge to write again until I finished every single book in the series.
So, I prepurchased the game and bought a season pass but they're still charging me thirty five dollars full price to 'upgrade' with some minor gameplay and graphical changes, except they're also separating the online which further reduces the player pool in the game I've already paid more than fifty dollars for. This is complete fucking unacceptable garbage, scamco. I'm never giving another cent to this shitty nigerian prince tier scum company of horrible japanese jew cunts NIGGERS RFIUCKC IU FUCKING HATE THESE FUCKING FAGGOTS I WISH THEY WOULD ALL DIE IN A FIERY FURNACE FUCKING FAGGOTS I'M NBOT PAYING FUCKIGN 346 DOLLARS FOR THIS FUCKING SHIT WHAT ARE YOU INSANE? Well, I've recently learned that if my internet ever goes out for any reason, all my watched threads get wiped and I have to manually fix it, so that's a huge pain, might be related to that earlier person's hidden threads problem too.
My guess is that your modems use dynamic IPs. Hidden/watched threads are tied to a particular IP, and every time your Internet connection resets, the modem takes a new one, meaning you lose the threads you marked. In fact, one day you could theoretically find your watch list full of old stories you used to follow, because your modem just so happened to pick up an IP you had before.
Nitori Kappashiro's channel has just been taken down. He was one of the few youtubers who still uploaded Touhou music videos regularly, and he had quite a long playlist, now gone forever to the stupid Youtube copyright policies. And I'm mad not only because we lost him, but also because I have to delete ~300 videos from my favorite list.
On that topic, do you know of more channels that still post Touhou songs?
>>21461 I agree with >>21462. I know it's not a very recent phenomenon, but I think spring semester is partly to blame. It's always the worst part of the year for those in college. At least in my experience. Summer should be more active.
I intend to start writing this summer, after two years of reading/occasional voting.
>>21462 >>21463 >>21464 I was mostly shitposting, but I do feel kinda sad for this site. I don't have a story to write at the moment, but it feels like there are tons of good writers but barely any readers. I think we need new blood, but we have little brand ("Touhou project dot com"), our layout is kinda confusing for anyone who hasn't been to an imageboard before, and besides all of that I don't think anyone is actively spreading THP anyway.
Migrating has the potential to fix these. We have a chance to rebrand ourselves, create/use a new layout, and spread ourselves to people. But most of all, I considered migrating in the first place because I have personally considered writing for other sites. I'm too afraid to put effort into a story on here because of how hard it is to get many readers.
However, that "it takes too much effort" line was basically me acknowledging that nobody here would want to leave, either because they prefer the current site or are too apathetic to care. I know we probably won't migrate but I thought to bring this up anyways as at least discussion.
Unfortunately, I'm something of a hypocrite, because since I finished my story I've dropped off from reading/writing outside of /blue/ and /gensokyo/. I suppose that makes me part of the problem.
Sorry to be the umpteenth person to complain about our lack of activity.
I'm doing my part by trying to get back in gear and start updating again. Even if activity is low, I'll keep going. Barring shit going sideways with the host, I doubt this place is just going to disappear overnight. We're in the low end of a cycle.
>>21514 TL;DR: Some random joined, brought some bots with him, said bots started shitflooding the channel, bots were banned, skid ghosted Rapestove and hijacked his nick, used his hops to unban the bots, and started kickbanning everybody when they realised. IRCops were involved, channel was made invite-only for a spell, all sorts of fun shit. Oh, and said skid also completely took over a THP sub-channel for a brief period.
>>21528 >wanted freedom from filthy youkai >attempts to accomplish this by doing the Gensokyo equivalent of defecting to the Soviets. >expects to not be treated like the filthy youkai he had become >did nothing wrong
Yeah, no. Count Chocula got exactly what he deserved.
That's like saying people who join ISIS did nothing wrong. Defecting to a enemy faction that also preaches beliefs that are obviously incompatable with civilized society is considered treason, Anon. Treason is one of very few offenses for which the only punishment is execution. So, no. There isn't going to be some love and toleration lesson here. That man deserved to die like the traitor he is.
>>21640 As >>21641 said, there's action over in /others/. Vote and stuff, maybe you'll inspire people to continue writing. Or write something of your own and mention it in here, because there are more than enough people who would read it.
Okay, guys, calm down. Crossovers, AUs, &c. aren't my thing, so I wouldn't have known about the activity in /others/. As for writing, I'm working on it; I've had an update stalled out for a while because "life".
Right as I started back to work on my fucking update, my good computer decided its power supply was working too well and took a massive shit. Now I have to wait for parts to come in and hope I don't fuck up building a desktop (first build), and my guts are in an uproar because I cannot fucking calm down.
>>21670 Caring about ancient history is for the Uruguayans. As someone under 30, all I know is I can say that I can actually remember what a win feels like. But, hey, I'm sure that watching Messi win with Barca is just as good.
>>21676 >>21677 Nobody ever said you had to get real 'deep' about it. If you can't articulate what you liked about something, that's one thing, but if you really did like it, there should be at least one stand-out quality that springs to mind.
Whether or not others will agree is a whole other story, of course.
See? This is what I mean. This gentleman identified the difference between our respective reading methodologies. He feels the need to extrapolate the "why" from the basic feeling of like and dislike and, furthermore, goes on to say that I should as well.
The issue of whether I can or can't give a reason is somewhat of a non-sequitur seeing as I chose not to look for one.
>>21676 >I'm really bad at recommending things, the best I can say is something inane like 'it's nice'
But that's all you really need to give a recommendation, isn't it? When someone suggests a place to go eat, I certainly don't need them to go into detailed analysis of the food when a simple "hey man this shit's fucking tasty you should try this," will suffice.
The only thing you should need to give a recommendation is a strong enough feeling for the thing you're recommending to want other people to experience it.
>>21699 At least two dunces over in Shrine have neglected to sage, prompting people to flame their idiotic butts for making them think an update had come in. I haven't looked in the other sections, but I'm guessing there's more than two dunces.
>>21723 They don't like them because they're trying to enact revenge against a certain person (who's most likely a Lunarian, too) in Lunarian Capital's prison, whose husband has indirectly killed the main antagonist's son by shooting down the sun.
It's very rage-worthy, because the Lunarians are clearly the real culprits and villains here, yet the player characters are forced to help them because of the aforementioned "fate manipulation" of Lunarian overpowered goddess.
>>21722 From what I gathered over IRC, "making crying children silent" is an idiom to show how strong someone is. And then making silent children cry is just Reimu/ZUN playing with it. You're definitely not supposed to take it literally.
>>21761 It's hard to say considering Clownpiece might actually use incident empowering like lesser fairies do, and there's the whole Hell Fairy thing which would make Cirno the "strongest fairy in the living plane"
That being said, Remilia's ability is far better suited for long term schemes than short term/battles. That and not having to worry about something backfiring with the slip of the tongue.
>>21761 Cirno still has the advantage of being the most recurrent boss character in the series (appearing in four main games). Unlike other weaklings, Cirno doesn't give up the fight - in a sense, you can say that it's her tenacity that really makes her "the strongest", not just "power level".
>>21768 At a first glance, Reisen manipulates existing insanity to suit her whims (turning into a lunatic is a possibility present in all intelligent beings I guess) whereas Clownpiece can only make you turn, without further involvement.
>>21768 >>21769 Actually, Reisen's ability works by manipulating various wavelengths. She can manipulate brain waves to mess with a target's mind directly, or light and sound waves to cause visual and auditory hallucinations.
As for Clownpiece, hell if I know. Maybe it's something to do with her torch, or maybe she just drives people mad by being extremely annoying.

>>21805 Much as I hate to pan a whole contest, I kind of agree. Nothing was really good, Eyes was the least mediocre as it got a laugh out of me. Runners up were "Reisen dies lol also Smash Mouth joke," "many OCs with no background fight for no reason" and "dude, like, relationships are complicated, man, you can't put anything into words, so like, *puff* here's a story that puts nothing into words, like whoaaaaa..."
