Previous Rage Thread: >>17777

Why is it that people think there's some kind of "curse" on high school stories? Sure, none may have finished in the sites history, but that hardly means they are "cursed"!

Now THP...

THP is cursed when it comes to Trucks!

Elementary, my dear boy.

It all started with that infamous story called "Gensokyo High". The author, Taisa, went mad after all the shitstorms that had happened on his story. Thus, he cursed THP. Never again shall we have a finished high school story for if his story never finished, no one else's will.

And speaking of trucks, I hope Rumia gets run over by a truck!

Also, I thought the curse's gone now since we have Myouren Academy still alive and kicking.

>>18780
To be fair, the original Gensokyo High was a side-story that occurred inside a bigger story and that did turn out fine.

Then, he made a full-fledged spin off and that died horribly of Hiatus B. You know who you are.

Kira died in an accident with a truck.

Norseman was in a coma for, I think it was 18 months after a wreck.

Glen was hit as a pedestrian, though he wound up being fine and that isn't the reason he hasn't been writing.

Fuck trucks.

I was bored and curious, so I went into the storylist and tallied all of the stories under the completed and the shorts categories. I haven't been around THP for a terribly long time, so people who have gone under more than one name will probably listed as separate authors. If you notice that, feel free to correct me.

I may have gotten all of YAF's under one category, though. Probably.

Full-fledged CYOAs:
Authors with (1) completed story: Aeolist, Angerwing, Choja, ddyk, EZMode, Fell, HY, Jerl, Kirakishou, Krisslanza, LandScout, Luminous, Patchwork, Rabbit, SolusLunes, Teruyo, Twitty
Authors with (2) completed stories: Dr. Q, Keymaster, Klaymen, Owen, SLDT
Authors with (3) completed stories: Sukima
Authors with (7) completed stories: YAF
Additionally, there were (6) stories posted without a name, trip, or parent-story to identify them.
Total: 43

CYOAs that were finished within one thread:
Authors with (1) completed story: Snake, Kedama, Gekko, Shanghai, MSiG Writefag, Twitty, ddyk, Kahi, balistafreak, !T1e/DmU8Jg, BSD
Authors with (2) completed stories: Owen
Authors with (6) completed stories: YAF
Total: 19

Shorts
There were (46) authors who completed one short, (11) who completed two shorts, and (4) who completed three shorts. There were also 26 shorts posted without a name, trip, or parent-story to identify them.

Authors with (4) completed shorts: Mystia, !lggAzV5pXw
Authors with (7) completed shorts: Treia, Dr. Doujin, SLDT, Oracle, Moral
Authors with (8-12) completed shorts: Scorn(8), Patchwork(10), NewAgeRetroHippie(11), Taisa(11), W-I-T the 8th (12)
Authors with (13-20) completed shorts: Owen(15), EZMode(18), Sukima(19)
Authors with (21+) completed shorts: YAF(22)
Total: 255

This all comes to 62 completed CYOAs and 255 completed shorts, for a total of 317 completed stories of Touhou fanfiction on Tea Hat Party. Note that this is only based on the story list, so any stories that have been completed since its last update (which was in July, I believe?) are not accounted for in this tally.

Of these, YAF has written 35 of these works, making him the writer with the most completed fanworks on the site. Runner-ups are Sukima (22), Owen (19), and EZMode (19).

So basically, it took two hours or so of browsing fanfiction about magical girls to confirm that yes, YAF has a brilliant work ethic and a lot of time. I hope you enjoy this data.

Also, for the sake of curiosity:
Second runs stemming from completed stories that are abandoned or on hiatus:
Beautiful Killing Chamber 3, by YAF
Deluge of a Lunar Fantasy, by Teruyo
Expectation of Sanguine Disorder, by HY
Hakugyokuro LA, by Patchwork
I, Youkai / Phobe's Outing, by Klaymen
Misadventures in Gensokyo, by Kirakishou

Shin Megami Tensei Nocturne Touhou Edition, by Anonymous

Well that takes me back.

Also, speaking of rage, I’m sure you guys’ll be delighted furious to hear that I’m writing up a proof-of-concept scene (or two) for a High School AU just because my brain conjures up pretty cool ideas when it’s drying out. Seriously – every week I think “oh, I’ll get so pissed this Saturday and not write a single fucking thing!” some four or five fuckwits come out of the woodwork and vote in a story that was dead for two whole years before picking up out of the blue and should have been dropped long ago due to lack of interest.

So, what's the deal with the Lunar War actually? I heard two conflicting accounts about it. One says it actually happens and the Apollo missions were a coverup for that (also, who downed the rocket? Eirin or the Lunarians?) The other says it never happens and it's just the Lunarians (and Reisen) overreacting.

Also, did Eirin do all that shit in IN to hide Reisen from being forcibly taken back to the Moon?

IN was caused by Eirin trying to protect Kaguya from being dragged back to the moon, Reisen was just the incidental trigger for the incident.

SSiB hints at the Lunarians being behind various other things, such as the war that Kanako and Suwako's battle was a part of (they were backing Kanako's side), and the imprisoning of some other gods (including Lord Daikou, whose praises Tewi sings)

>>19334
No. I guess that ragepost may have been slightly misguided. I have no problem with people that are simply too busy to write, like HY or Klaymen or YAF. Or those that simply decide they're done writing and clearly state it.

I guess I was just mad at IRC AGAIN.

Because it hurts. I might not have been here from the beginning, even left for periods of time, maybe not read as many stories as I could have.
But I still read, voted, argued my votes, waited anxiously for updates, read some stretch of story over and over again while waiting anxiously for updates. Shit, it even prompted me to write, which is something I wouldn't have done in a million years if not for this place. I actually have more of emotional connection with this site and its stories than most things in my life I can think of, and I know I'm not supposed to actually care about anything on the internet but fuck that. So you know, I go ahead and enter #THP because I'm interested in touhou stories, and what do I see?

The same bunch of people that wrote those stories I enjoyed, and none of them seem to have any interest in any of that anymore. But they're still hanging around the chat connected to it for no reason at all. So I get to sit there and watch these guys sit around and jack each other off about the latest video game or giant robots or whatever, clearly not intent on involving themselves with touhou or writing ever again, not even to read it, or worse, brag and joke about how they haven't even opened the site in x months like it's a competition.

We all know the site is slowly dying, and its format and content are unique enough that I have scarce hope of ever seeing anything quite like it after Teruyo finally figures it's not worth the server bill anymore and shuts it down. And some of the few people that could have any hope of revitalizing it couldn't give a drop of piss about it. Yet they're still around, I guess to rub salt in the wound.

I should probably just leave the place and stop torturing myself like this, but there's those glimpses of hope, you know? when there's a 5 minute convo about some story or some writing thing before it's bulldozed by the latest anime thing.

Man. I just don't know anymore.

First of all, there was a thread a while back over on /gensokyo/ about the IRC.

Second, how much time do you spend on the IRC yourself? Do you participate in the conversations? If you just sit there and watch, you should have seen that we are a fairly close knit community and we try to have fun with each other. Hell, a group of us met up at Anime Weekend Atlanta a few months back.

Third, next time you say that the site is dying just think that you could be trying to do something other than whining. Sure, you say that you are writing, but how often do you update? If we have people updating, even if it's erratic, then we will have readers. Writers inspire readers, readers can tell their friends, friends can become readers and in turn writers. If you're too embarrassed to tell your friends that you're writing Magical Girl Fanfiction then don't complain about the site being "slow" or "dying" because you aren't making an effort to get more people here.

Fourth, I realize that it is a "Touhou Dedicated Channel" but that doesn't mean we have to talk about it 24/7. Shit gets old after a while. Think about how many "active" stories there are and then compare to how many people are on the IRC. It only takes so long for people to run out of things to say about a story they may or may not be interested in.

Finally, stop putting people on pedestals! You say they are, and I quote, "And some of the few people that could have any hope of revitalizing it couldn't give a drop of piss about it." Just stop. You want to know who can "save" THP? YOU! ANON! THE PEOPLE WHO ARE ACTUALLY WRITING! It isn't a group of asshats who gave up/became lazy/had a mental breakdown, but EVERYONE ELSE! Sorry guys, but if you aren't writing then people need to stop acting like you're still something special. You guys are cool, but they need to stop living in the past.

tl;dr Stop your bitching and do something about it. If you want people to talk about it on the IRC, then TALK! No one is stopping you! You won't get everyone involved, but you can still talk! And just let sleeping dogs lie! The dwelling on the past is, for a lack of better words, pointless and a waste of time.

Anyway, that is my spiel. Take it as you will.
Sorry if I'm coming off harsh but the whole "site is dying" mentality is infectious. When people see this mentality, they are put off of contributing.

That feel when #touhouporn actually talks about, you know, touhou porn, on a literally regular basis. Without it I probably wouldn't have ever come out of my early-in-the-thread slump and kept writing, I wouldn't have made the genderswap shorts thread and inspired others to create so much good content, etc.

So I really can't speak for the main #THP, I connect but never actually go in there to look at what they're talking about, it goes by too fast for me, but #touhouporn is legitimately stronk. People who actually write and create content, and we talk about a lot of lewd touhou shit. Regularly.

Not always, of course, sometimes DOTA or whatever is king, but nobody minds because before it has a chance to get old we're back to it.

The site sure doesn't feel like it's dying if you visit /at/ and #touhouporn and see the writers actually, you know, writing.

There's other THP-related IRC channels that have a higher chance of story discussion, such as #touhouporn. Sure they might not be as big but generally the active people in them are more mindful of the now than days long since passed.

>DEPRESSION DOESN'T PARALYZE YOUR HANDS AS FAR AS I KNOW
It does paralyze your brain, which you need to write.
